STUDIO Policies

We want everyone to have a great time while at Skyloft Center! In order to keep the space enjoyable AND SAFE for everyone involved, please review and adhere to our policies here. Safety is our number one concern, which includes mental, emotional, social, and physical safety.

A PDF version of these policies can be found here:

SKYLOFT STUDIO POLICY

  • Everyone must sign a waiver before training, attending class, or engaging in any activity at Skyloft Center for Movement. Minors under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature at the time of registration. Waivers are available at the front desk or can be downloaded here.

  • All members are encouraged to wear a well-fitting facial mask covering their mouth and nose for the entirety of their time in our studio - coverings that don’t stay in place while moving are not acceptable.

Please do not come to the studio if you are feeling unwell, show signs of COVID, or other illness.

  • NO METAL OR SHARP OBJECTS WHILE TRAINING: jewelry, grommets, zippers (check pants for sneaky pocket zippers!), or any other objects that can snag or damage the equipment, yourself, your fellow members, and/or coach is not permitted.

No street shoes are allowed beyond the lobby. Be prepared to take off shoes upon entry.

  • Absolutely no training under the influence of drugs or alcohol is permitted. If your coach or training supervisor suspects that you may be compromised in this or some other way (i.e. injury, illness, or severe sleep deprivation) you may be asked to sit out or leave the facility immediately.

  • If you are attending Open Training, be sure to warm up on your own in the warm up area or other parts of the studio before beginning your work. If you are attending a class or private lesson, your coach may have a more specific attendance policy to follow.

  • Come hydrated and stay hydrated. Only water is permitted in the warehouse, ground rooms, and warmup area. NO GLASS, CERAMIC, OR OTHER BREAKABLE CONTAINERS ALLOWED.

Keep all food items out of the warehouse and training areas - use the breakroom for snack time. Clean up after yourself, including wiping out the microwave and removing food items from the fridge when you leave for the day.

  • Please practice good hygiene and refrain from wearing heavy fragrances or heavy lotions as they can irritate other members and staff. Make sure hands and feet are clean before using shared equipment.

  • Be respectful to the coaches, employees, your fellow members, and the studio. NO BULLYING WILL BE TOLERATED.

No photography or video recording is allowed without the express permission of the those being photographed or filmed. Please be considerate with cell phone and music use while in the facility.

  • Return any equipment, props, or training equipment after you have finished with it. Keep your training space free of clutter. Do not walk under apparatuses while they are in use - this includes staying off of any mat while someone is in the air above it. The people in the air have the right of way. Stay alert.

  • Open Training is intended to be a forum in which to practice known skills. Do not attempt to execute new moves or to teach other students or yourself. The safest way to learn any aerial or circus skill is with a qualified coach.

  • Do not attempt to rig any equipment without the proper clearance from a supervisor. Please ask a trained member of the Skyloft Center if you need equipment adjusted for any reason.

  • Ask for assistance if you are unsure about a skill or rigging situation. Never train alone and always use an appropriate crash mat. If you are injured during class or Open Training, inform your coach or supervisor immediately.

  • Spray rosin is not permitted on Skyloft equipment, however, it can be used for personal equipment at the discretion of the owner. Rock rosin and chalk are available around the warehouse for shared use.

Additionally, no rosin of any kind on the Marley in the dance studio.

  • Our space is a little different: we don’t manage a regular class schedule, but our residency program offers public classes through the Circus Scorpius training company.

More information on their program can be found here:

  • While we love fur babies of all kinds, we understand not all of our members do, so for the safety and comfort of all of our members, we are not allowing pets in the space.

  • Yes, but all equipment must be checked and approved by a Skyloft Center supervisor before use. Please provide any equipment certification, purchase information (including vendor and/or fabricator details, purchase date, load ratings, etc) as you can.

If you have large props that you would like to use while in our space, let us know ahead of time so we can make sure we have the appropriate space for you to safely train. Sending pictures and specs ahead of time will help to expedite that process for you so we can confirm our space will fit your needs.

If you want to store your equipment here in the space, there is a $10/mo fee to do so.
